Van Cleef & Arpels new production site will generate over 500 jobs

The jewellery power house announces the creation of two workshops, the second French basin in terms of number of jobs and companies in the field of jewellery-goldsmithing.

A first site will thus be set up in the heart of the Porte du Vercors business park, in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme). On a plot of 2.5 hectares, two buildings of approximately 1,000 and 5,000 square meters will accommodate craftsmen and their support functions. The space will also have a training incubator which should in particular contribute to strengthening the links between the house founded in 1906 and the students of the jewelery sector of the Amblard vocational school in Valence.

The other production site announced by Van Cleef & Arpels will be located in the village of Dorat, about ten kilometers from Thiers, in Puy-de-Dôme.

“Each of the workshops will be able to accommodate at least 250 employees, in sites easily accessible from Lyon, Paris and Geneva – where the House is already established – in order to create strong synergies between the different production sites”, specifies the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in a press release.

“The company’s choice to set up a jewelery manufacturing unit in Romans-sur-Isère and a jewelery manufacturing unit in Dorat is a source of great pride for our Region, which is the 2nd French region in terms of number of jobs and companies in the jewellery-goldsmithery, and is fully in line with our vision of promoting local jobs and know-how, in order to energize our territories”, she adds.

In total, more than 500 non-relocatable positions should be created within these production workshops.

It should be noted that since 2021, Van Cleef & Arpels has been organizing “Hands to hands” days in Lyon in order to familiarize the public – and in particular the new generations – with the know-how of jewelery through exhibitions, conferences and workshops. .
